300 blood donors excluded

In one year, the National Center for the Blood Transfusion in Tirana has
excluded around 300 persons who have resulted with STD.

The Public Health Directory epidemiologic doctor, Halil Stana, declared for the media that 211 blood donors were discovered in one year who had Hepatitis B, 42 had Hepatitis C, and 9 even had syphilis, a disease returned after 40 years.

The Tirana University Hospital Center and the Public Health Institution have identified 43 cases of viral hepatitis, and 19 people with HIV. According to the Public Health specialists, the affected are mostly young.

The Sexually Transmittable Diseases can spread better in summer, due to the frequent international travels.

Specialists appeal the young ages to use protection during sex, while the persons who are diagnosed with these diseases are advised to receive the first medicaments, since they are 10 times more endangered to receive HIV.
