The rains have stopped in the region of Lezha during the last 24 hours, after which the normalization of the flood situation is expected.
Meanwhile about 2600 hectares of agricultural land have been flooded, 2500 ha in the municipality of Lezha and 100 ha of agricultural land in the municipality of Kurbin, the authorities announced today.
30 families have been evacuated, 27 in the municipality of Lezha and 3 in the municipality of Kurbin. The bridge over the Mat River is in danger of collapse due to heavy inflows as a result of recent days rainfall.
“During 24 hours we have not had rain and the situation is expected to improve. From the Regional Directorate of Cultural Monuments Shkodra, we are informed that during the inspections of Ura e Zogut on the river Mat, with “cultural monument” status, as a result of rainfall it was found that the foot suppoerting the last arch has bent bringing the reduction about 15 cm of the bridge height, seriously endangering its collapse.
“Reservoirs are being monitored and their discharge continues; the condition of the road axes is without problems”, it was said in the announcement among other things.
