The Parliament passed the actual budget with 71 votes pro, after four hours of harsh debates with the opposition.
Prime Minister Berisha and the Minister of Finances, Ridvan Bode, declared that through this budget was preserved Albania’s financial stability and the positive economic pace through investments in infrastructure and tourism.
Referring to the numbers, the Socialist MP, Erjon Brace noted that the budget of 2010 showed the great social inequality created by the government’s tax policy, which has increased the tax burden for poor and middle class citizens and have reduced them for the rich.
According to Brace, the government took 1.5 billion USD from the Albanian citizens, while the big businesses paid eight times less.
The opposition has been focused on reviewing the tax policies, asking lower taxes for basic food products, in order to ease the life of the poor class and to soften inequality.
