Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) announced that the GDP in the third
trimester of 2011 increased with 2.6%. Commerce and transport were the
sectors with the biggest growth.
“Commerce, hotels and restaurants increased with 6.2%. The transportation activity in the third trimester increased with 19.7%, compared to the same trimester of one year ago”, declared Etugert Llazi, representative of INSTAT.
According to INSTAT, the agriculture and industry also marked an increase, while the post-telecommunication saw lower figures.
“The agricultural activity in the third trimester in 2011 increased with 2.5%, compared to the third trimester of 2010. The industry increased with 4.8% in the third trimester of 2011, compared to the same period of one year ago”, Llazi declared.
The INSTAT figures show that the economy in the third trimester, although with a lower pace, has progressed better than three months ago, when the growth was only 0.5%. Same as in the second trimester, even this time INSTAT delayed the GDP results, a phenomenon that has been frequent recently, with some important economic indicators.
