In order to avoid tragic events like the one on the Potami beach a year ago where a 7-year-old lost her life, the Albanian police report that they are conducting frequent patrols along the coast but also in Lake Koman in the northern mountainous area, to block vessels that do not meet the security conditions or navigate beyond the predetermined corridors.

Only during the last 2 months, the police report that they have seized 191 such vessels.

Controls are being carried out not only for entertainment vehicles but also for others which must comply with the laws in force and be equipped with the necessary documentation, for the lack of which they are punished with fines from 1 to 200 thousand new alleks.

But it seems that the effects of police checks are carried out only in limited periods of time. In footage shot on Thursday on the coast of Saranda in the south of Albania, the police can be seen patrolling the beach area with their vehicles.

As soon as the police vehicle leaves, the speedboats and jet skis appear in the water and start sailing as if the law and restrictions did not exist.

Citizens and vacationeers themselves can be a factor in increasing safety on the beaches, and if they find a boat that threatens their safety, they should notify the State Police on the emergency numbers 129 or 112.
