19 luxury cars, Range Rover, BMW X5-X6, Audi A6-A8, Mercedes Benz, all
recent production, were seized by the Shkoder Police in cooperation with
police precincts in various cities, after an oepration code-named
“Lux”.
11 Albanian citizens were arrested as organizers of this international traffic. Police say that the vehicles were stolen in countries of the region, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Italy and France, and have entered Albania with change serial numbers through the Han i Hotit border checkpoint. The vehicles were then equipped with regular license plates.
The vehicles were seized in Saranda, Tirana, Lac and Shkoder. The police directors have given details about the operation. The Prosecution says the investigations had started in February, based on information of the Shkoder police. The investigations are undergoing in cooperation with other countries of the region.
