Albania celebrates today the 101st year of independence. Albanian
leaders such as President Bujar Nishani; Prime Minister Edi Rama;
Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta; Mayor of Vlore, Shpetim Gjika; Prefect of
Vlore, Besnik Dervishi; Parliament Members from Vlore and politicians
from Kosovo, together with hundreds of citizens, participated in the
celebration of the 101st anniversary of independence in the city where
it was declared.

After the hymn, the Albanian Prime Minister paid homage and place wreaths on the tomb of Ismail Qemali, who declared Albania’s independence 101 years ago.

Different from other times, this ceremony did not continue with the speeches of the highest leaders. Prime Minister Rama considered this as the day for all citizens and government to reflect and push forward the project for a free and democratic Albania.

The same message was given by Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta, who considered this one of the most beautiful days in the history of the Albanian people.

“All of us who are here, together with the Parliament Speaker and co-leader of the Alliance for European Albania, think that this is a day for reiterating our full commitment to push the Albanian state forward in progress, and increase cooperation with all Albanians through the region, and to have a better future with the Albanians wherever they are”, Rama declared.

“It is a pleasure to continue our efforts for modernizing our state and fulfill the aspiration for an European Albania”, Meta declared.
