Many roads were blocked today in Tirana to guarantee safety for the trial of 23 protesters arrested during the “Nation’s Road” toll fee protest.
The 23 Kukes citizens who were arrested were brought to Tirana, because the Kukes Court could not guarantee a safe process.
After the opposition MPs were not allowed to enter the courtroom, the Democratic Party MP, Edmond Spaho, said that he and his colleagues had suffered violence from police.
The Kukes Judge, Alma Mehmeti, decided to leave only the MPs in the courtroom but refused news crews.
After more than 5 hours, the Kukes Prosecutors decided to leave 11 protesters in prison, while 10 others will be released on probation or left in house arrest.
MP Spaho accused the Court of obeying to political orders, and declared that the only response to this was civilian disobedience.
