Some part of the properties that belonged to the Ponzi Scheme companies
are still unsold, totally destroyed and cannot be used for compensating
the citizens who lost their savings.
“These are real estates that belonged to small plants of meat products, bars or similar things. Most of them are objects that it would be worthless letting a guard to watch them”, says Bajram Malaj, head of the Supervision Group of the Ponzi Scheme Companies.
The agency that manages these assets has tried to sell them, but as Malaj says, all auctions have failed, since no one has shown interest.
The MPs of the ruling party at the Parliamentary Commission of Economy voted the amendment of the law that allows the agency to publish the sale price before the auction.
“We have assessed that the fact that the price has not been shown, is an obstacle. We have been trying to sell these assets for two years now, but no buyer has come forward”, Malj emphasized.
But the opposition was against this amend.
“You changed the law arguing that there were abuses, and now you are turning to the old method that you abolished, because your purpose is to abuse”, declared that Socialist MP Arben Ahmetaj.
Even with this change, the experts remain skeptical. Some part of these assets, according to the agency, not only have no buyers’ interest, but also have a maintenance cost. Some of the MPs asked to discuss the option of having the state abandon them.
