1 ton cannabis seized in Vlore

The news was made official by local police sources, which say that the drug was found three kilometers from the Shen Vasili Bay.

The drug was to be sent to Italy and the operation was based on information acquired by the police operative.

Same sources add that the in this operation were engaged the anti-drug agents and the operatives of the special units.

Last month, the General Chief of Police, Hysni Burgaj, and the vice Ambassador of Italy, Giuseppe Berlendi, inspected the monitoring of the territory from air for identifying the areas with cultivated cannabis.

The join operation between the Albanian and the Italian police started on July 4th. As part of the agreement, the Guardia di Finanza has offered two specialized airplanes for photographing and identifying the narcotic plants.

After identifying the plants, the operation continued from land.

“We are continuing our joint operation in cooperation with the Italian police for monitoring the Albanian territory in the war against the cultivation of cannabis sativa. These are two high end airplanes that can detect the cannabis sativa plants through the colors and beams”, Burgaj declared.

This monitoring will bring to responsibility all police employees and village reeds that do not report the narcotic plants their encounter in their areas.
