Our joint purpose is to have stability in the Western Balkans, and see the six countries of the region united in the EU.
“This is our geopolitical interest”, said the EU Commissioner for Good Neighboring and Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, during a meeting with international partners in Washington, where they discussed a series of matters, especially Balkan.
Hahn underlined that the credibility of the block itself is now at stake.
“We need to be determined, but just. We must recognize their merits when needed. Not keeping your promises means losing the ability to influence”, said the EU high-level official.
Hahn’s declaration comes in a time when France is having more voices against enlargement.
