The government’s initiative to create a state-owned corporate of investments was received with skepticism by experts.
“The main problem of all state-owned companies in Albania is the lack of discipline, and the lack of respect for good standards. The economic consequences produced by state-owned corporations have been very negative. This is not something advisable for Albania”, said Selami Xhepa.
The government’s draft provides that the state-owned company will manage all public properties, with the right to cooperate with private operators for developing them.
Besides, there will be loans from local and foreign banks for realizing public investments. According to Xhepaj, this will be a debt left out of the budget, with the possibility to turn into a very dangerous position.
