The Parliament of Netherlands voted against opening the EU accession negotiations for Albania. According to most of the Dutch MPs, the results of Albania are not enough for them to take such a step.
The MPs asked the government to not vote in favor of the European Commission proposition for Albania, saying that our country has not fulfilled the conditions set by Brussels as regards corruption and crime.
“Albania has clearly not fulfilled the five priorities set by the progress report, because there is no history with the legal reform, the fight against corruption or the fight against crime. Based on this progress, we cannot open the accession negotiations. The Dutch government should not vote in favor of the European Commission for opening the accession negotiations”, says the motion approved at the Dutch Parliament, drafted by Van Helvert, Omtzigt, Anne MUlder and Van der Graaf.
