The Greek Foreign Ministry expressed their concern regarding the government decision for demolishing objects in Himara.

“We are following with great concern the political events in Albania, regarding organized crime, after a trafficker was arrested in Italy who was relative to the former Interior Minister, very close to Prime Minister Edi Rama”, the communication says.

For Athens it is concerning that the Albanian government continues to take measures for demolishing the properties of members of the Greek minority, in an effort to eradicate the historic presence of the Greek minority in Himara.

According to Greece, yesterday’s decision of the Albanian authorities proves that the law voted by the Parliament for minorities marks a big step back for the biggest minority of Albania.

“Many of us relate this decision with the government’s attempt to remove the public’s attention from the important issue with the drug traffic. We hope it is not like this”, the Foreign Ministry declares.
