Finance Minister Ahmetaj defends VAT: “Small business will not be damaged”

The Minister of Finances, Arben Ahmetaj, declared that the inclusion of
small businesses in the VAT scheme will have no negative consequence for
their finances.
“99% of the VAT will be paid by big businesses. Extending VAT to you will not change that ratio”, Ahmetaj declared.
The Minister said in the past three years only, more than 3700 small businesses have been included in the VAT scheme.
“They didn’t go bankrupt. On the contrary, they have the right to be credited”, Ahmetaj declared.
The Minister communicated businesses that they will not have administrative costs, since the VAT declaration will be done same as insurance. “It is not true that you will be needing accountants. It will be very simply. You will be able to do it on your own”, Ahmetaj added.
