The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, received the “Lincoln” award for
“excellence in public service”, in a ceremony organized for the 20th
anniversary of the Abraham Lincoln Foundation in Albania.

“I feel very humbled for this award. I will keep dedicating all of my energies to this city and I am certain that all of you will give us a helping hand. Each of us has the possibility to do something good our own communities, job places, apartment buildings, etc. On days like this we are rewinding the video of 20-year-long history that connects us all. There are so many things that unite us, much more than what divides us”, the Mayor said.

Veliaj praised the role of educational institutions in Tirana, such as the Lincoln Center, which offer education to Albanian youth. He said that thanks to the contribution given by these institutions in the past 20 years, Albania has a new generation of leaders today. He appealed them to keep up the enthusiasm in their work and be optimistic about the future, so that Tirana can be an even better place.

Veliaj was also invited at the Kids Marathone, attended by 2300 students from 82 different schools.
