Local elections in Macedonia are considered as the most important test for the democratic processes in the country.

The last central elections were held in December, but the government was formed four months later, concluding a long political crisis.

International partners were very clear with their appeals. The US Embassy in Skopje underlined the importance of elections for the European future of the country, and appealed citizens to exert their right to vote.

The EU declared through Ambassador Samuel Zhgobar that political and party leaders should enable free and calm elections, without violence and fear.

Nikolla Dujoski, Political System Professor at the Justice Faculty in Skopje said that Macedonia needs to hold free and fair elections as never before, to show that the country is ready to start accession talks.
