Media outlets in Macedonia say that Edmond Themelko, Mayor of Pustec, (a
municipality in Albania, known as Liqenas until 2013, where most of the
ethnic Macedonian minority of Albania live), has been arrested one day
after the Skopje Court issued a 30-day arrest order.

Despite being Mayor of Pustec, Themelko lives in Macedonia. He traveled each day for his duty at the Macedonian-majority town in Albania.

He is accused by the Special Public Prosecution of manipulating the local elections of 2013 in Macedonia. He was detained on February 2016 for this matter and was then released. Investigations showed that 400 Pustec citizens voted in Macedonia during the 2013 elections with false Ids.

The Public Special Prosecution has also included in this investigation the former Prime Minister Nicolas Gruevski, former Interior Minister Jankullovska and former high-level officials of the Skopje government.
