Government gives 3 billion ALL for energy

The opposition raised concern about government budget amends for debts created by the public sector.

“The situation with the Energy Distribution is very problematic, at least according to the technical director who was working there until a few weeks ago. The company has 100 million EUR of unpaid obligations”, declared Jorida Tabaku.

But the Minister of Finances, Arben Ahmetaj, although he accepts the difficult situation caused by the drought, said it was not about accumulated debts.

“There are no accumulated debts at the OSHEE, not in my knowledge. There may be delayed payments, but not accumulated debts. The Minister of Energy has ordered the company to make slower payments due to the drought”,  Ahmetaj said.

“The energy crisis is the reason why the government changed the state budget, giving 3 billion ALL of loans to KESH and OSHEE. Despite the higher energy spending, the public debt will not grow, but it will get lower”, the Minister explained.

“Revenues were realized 103.2%, or 7.7 billion ALL more than planned. Spending was realized at 98.3%. What’s more important, despite the parliamentary elections, the fiscal balance of the government this July has a 2.9 billion ALL sufficit for the first time in 27 years”, Ahmetaj concluded.
