The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, received a team from the
Eduardo Frei Foundation of the Dutch Christian Democratic party, CDA,
which initiated the request for bringing back the visa regime to
Albania, a debate started a few months ago.

The Democratic Party states in a press release that Basha expressed his concern for the empowering of Albanian organized crime and increased drug traffic towards EU countries, including Netherlands. “Albania turned into a base of organized crime, according to Europol and the US State Department”, Basha told them, according to the DP release.

The opposition leader stated that direct cooperation of politics with crime has damaged the standards of democracy and security, especially those of the free vote, as it happened with the June 25th elections, through pressure paid by drug money.

“This increased the number of Albanians requesting asylum in EU and Netherlands, because they lost trust on this government”, Basha declared.

Although Basha was in a meeting with the party which requested to return the visa regime to Albania, and which is known for the non-friendly stances against our country, the Democratic Party statement doesn’t mention if their leader, Lulzim Basha, asked them information about their initiative for bringing back the visa regime, or if he opposed it.
