The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared during his speech at the
UN General Assembly that the priority of his government is EU
accession.

“Integration affects any cell of our development architecture. It is our ability to realize the necessary reform that will enable this process. The judiciary reform that we are implementing is the key”, Rama declared.

The Prime Minister added that Albania is expecting European partners to open their doors for accession negotiations.

“We hope that the EU, despite their current crisis, will have enlargement as their priority. EU needs Albania as much as Albania needs EU, and the EU needs a stabile and developed Balkan”, Rama said.

He underlined that it is necessary for the international community to treat equally every factor in the Balkan region, including Kosovo, which, according to Rama, needs to access international institutions.

“We believe that Kosovo’s accession to international institutions will serve to stability. Many have used this podium to declared that dark forces are going to be released through Kosovo’s independence. None of this happened. Western Balkan is better than 7 or 10 years ago. The independence of Kosovo not only did not release any dark force, but it brought stability”, Rama declared.
