The Minister of Finances and Economy, Arben Ahmetaj, declared this
Thursday on Top Story that October 1st will be the first day of an
action against economic informality.

After the one undertaken by the first term of the Rama government, the second one will have some changes, as announced by Minister Ahmetaj.

“The main difference is in the deepness and instruments that we are going to use in this operation. The anti-informality operation will be based on increasing the base of taxpayers, and using laws to allow taxpayers correct themselves”, Ahmetaj declared.

This time, the focus will be on bigger businesses.

“Our focus will be on bigger businesses, and the reason is because we have a risk assessment system at the General Tax Directory which is maturated, different from one year ago when we had just started using it. Action through this instrument is more structured and more maturated”, Ahmetaj declared.

But small businesses will not be excluded as well. Ahmetaj said that their purpose is to extend inspections from importers to small salesmen.

“There is a special focus on the ethics of the administration. There will be persistence, especially on terrain, and ethical modesty in fiscal inspections, so that they reflect our determination for implementing the law”, the Minister said.

This time, the main purpose is not just increasing revenues.

“The main purpose is creating equality and fair competition, education, information and rule of law”, Ahmetaj declared.
