The Rapporteur for Albania at the European Parliament, Knut
Fleckenstein, declared that the June 25th elections were the best ever
held in Albania.
He expressed his conviction that the Commission will vote in favor of opening Albania’s accession negotiations, but in June 2018.
According to Fleckenstein, Albania had two basic conditions: election, which he considered the best ever held, and the judiciary reform.
“We have a very positive opinion. Albania needs to work hard in this direction. We will do everything possible for the European Council to start the accession negotiations with your country. For this reason I am convinced that the Commission will decide in favor next June”, Fleckenstein said during a meeting with Parliament Speaker Ruci.
The European MP met with the Chairman of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, Taulant Balla. When asked about what Albania should do for the accession negotiations, Fleckenstein was very clear: “You must keep working as you did the last years”, he said.
