The General Chief of Police, Haki Cako, received this Tuesday the
Japanese Ambassador to Tirana, Makato Ito. The meeting focused on police
cooperation between both countries.

After congratulating the Ambassador for the important mission in Albania, Cako said that the government, same as the institution that he leads, welcome any cooperation with friendly countries.

Although the cooperation between both countries has not been very intensive so far, due to geographic distance, Cako guaranteed the Japanese Ambassador that the state police offers maximal safety to any Japanese businessman or tourist who would visit Albania.

“We have exchanged information about specific cases that may have risen, based on the rules of the international security organizations. The State Police is determined to continue its mission in the fight against organized crime, radicalization and international traffic. We have realized our priorities for EU accession and for increasing cooperation with other countries”, Cako said.

The Japanese Ambassador thanked the State Police for establishing cooperation bridges between both countries.

“For our businesses, which operate or want to operate to Albania, the security aspect is very important. I had a negative image about Albania before I arrived here, regarding organized crime, human traffic and crime in general. I changed this opinion completely after I arrived here. It is a safe, calm, clean and friendly country”, Ito said.

The Ambassador invited the General Chief of Police for a visit in Japan, to establish direct contacts with the leaders of the Japanese Police.
