Macedonia and Albania are expected to hold a joint government meeting in Pogradec during this Autumn.

This was confirmed by the respective Foreign Ministers, Ditmir Bushati and Nikola Dimitrov, during a visit of the latter in Tirana.

The decision comes after Prime Ministers of both countries met in Trieste. A specific of that press conference was that the Ochrid Agreement was never mentioned. This agreement has been the key word in former meetings, but Albanian Foreign Minister Bushati has an explanation this year.

“The Ochrid Agreement, the Perzhino Agreement, in a way or another is embodied on the declaration of Albanian political parties in Macedonia, but also on the program of the new Macedonain government, which was voted in Parliament. Part of these commitments are on the platform that the Macedonian government presented in Brussels”, Bushati declared.

When asked by Top Channel about the Albanian language law, the Macedonian Minister said they are making all efforts for it to be as constitutional as possible.

“The law for the Albanian language is not getting delayed. On the contrary, we are accelerating works on the text which will pass in government, the Parliament of Macedonia and the Venice Commission, which will help for that text to be based on the Constitution. This law is also based on the interest of the Republic of Macedonia, since our vision is that of having a country with united citizens, with everyone feeling part of the state, causing this way more stability”, Dimitrov said.

There were a few translation problems during the press release, which Bushati passed with a smile and mentioning once again the importance of the law for the Albanian language.
