Ilir Meta takes oath as President of Albania

With the words “I do solemnly swear”, Ilir Meta officially becomes President of Albania.

The Parliamentary session of this Monday was led by Valentina Leskaj, who invited the President for the speech.

“I have the honor today to greet you with my highest commitment and solemnly show my firm will to respect every single detail of the Constitution of Albania, in order to protect the best interests of our country, our nation and of our Albanian citizens”, Meta said.

The President said that the Constitution and Rule of Law will be the main reference for the next five years.

“I will serve to consensus, cooperation and all-inclusiveness, especially for advancing with the reforms that make our country more democratic, more prosperous and more European”, he said.

Among these reforms there is also the judiciary one. Meta said that as President, he would contribute for its full advance and implementation.

“On April 28th I ran for President and I put my mind more than my heart on it, because the opposition was not here. But I can guarantee you that my oath today was with all my heart. And my candidacy as President has given a modest contribution for resolving the crisis”, Meta said.
