Tirana Mayor: “Number of tourists increased 2.4 fold the first six months of 2017”

The competition aimed to promote tourist products, and not only souvenirs.

Mayor Erion Veliaj declared that the number of foreign visitors in Tirana has increased 2.4 times the first six months of the year only.

“Even before immigrants visiting their families, before the summer season reached its peak, the number of tourists increased with 2.4 times”, Veliaj said.

The Mayor said that the improved infrastructure and the general transformation of the city has had a positive impact.

“The central square, the Bazaar, the Cloud, the new Kindergarten, all of these have had an impact. The number of domestic tourists has also increased a lot. This is why we have a great chance right now”, Veliaj said.

Besides increasing the number of tourist destinations, the Mayor of Tirana said there is also a higher demand for hotel accommodations. Veliaj said this demand will be supplied within the next four years, with two famous brands that will be placed at the new boulevard.
