Albanian Prosecution accuses Greek authorities over “Balili” case

After Albanian institutions confronted each other about responsibilities
regarding Klement Balili’s case, also known as “Balkan’s Escobar”, this
debate has now expanded to Greece, with the Albanian and Greek
judiciary accusing each other.

Sources at the Prosecution say that the investigations about Balili have been in a stalemate for the past months, because the Greek authorities have not answered to the request of Albanian Prosecutors for attaching the additional evidence files to the cae.

The Greek authorities are asked to send a report about cannabis seized by them by the end of April 2006, and the declarations of motorboat owners, Petro Dalanaj and Kleanth Palaj, who were instructed by Balili on how to transport cannabis from Saranda to Greece.

The Prosecution has also asked the Greek authorities to explain details about the drug operation in 2016 that had 21 people in total arrested, 16 in Greece and others in Belgium, Bulgaria and Italy.

Now that there is an arrest order against Balili and a 5 million ALL compensation for whoever has information about him, there is dilemma about the efforts of the Prosecution, which says they cannot send the case to Court with just recorded phone conversations as evidence.
