Just a few days ago, Japan inaugurated their embassy in Tirana. This
event had maximal importance from Tokyo. The Japanese Foreign Minister
himself arrived for the ceremony, who is also the brother of the
Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe. At the same time, China has
increased the presence in the region, especially in Albania.

During his meetings in Tirana, the Japanese Minister said his country wants to be as present as possible in Balkan to also challenge their old rival.

This race would be very good for Albania, since both countries would make a series of investments in Albania to increase their presence.

China, on the other hand, has requested a reciprocity measure for their embassy. The Albanian-Chinese ties started in 1960, and since then Albania has had a very big building in Beijing as its embassy.

For this, China has received 9000 square meters of land in Tirana. Both countries are allowed to use these spaces for the next 70 years. The land is being prepared for China to build its own embassy there.
