2017 expected to be a better year for tourism

Enver Mehmeti, who owns one of the main tourism agencies in Albania,
says that our country is expecting a better tourist season this year,
with an increased number of bookings from Slovakia, Poland and other
countries, while Italians, Slovenians and Germans are also showing more
interest.

The Albanian economy received 1.5 billion EUR last year from foreign tourists. This record is expected to be broken this year, according to Zak Topuzi, from the Tourism-Hotels Association.

But experts say Albania needs more investments to respond respectively to the increased demand. The number of hotel rooms is still low, and the services in coastlines should be expanded beyond Durres and Saranda.

A second airport would make Albanian a much better market, according to Mehmeti.
