Basha: “President, fruit of dirty negotiations”

The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, reacted for the first time after the voting of Ilir Meta as Albania’s new President.

“The political bargains with the presidents are not part of a real democracy. The newly voted President says he loves democracy, and that he is enjoying democracy. But this is not real democracy. They make bargains with wine bottles costing more than pensions of retired citizens in a small town. This is just the last chapter of the political bazaar of the old republic, the mechanism that has kept this economic plot”, DP leader said.

Basha answered to the declaration of Prime Minister Rama, who said one day ago that Ilir Meta is closer to the Democratic Party than to others.

“The old republic is closing their existence in a shameful way. Ilir Meta knows this. Edi Rama knows this very well. He desperately tried to say yesterday that Meta is closer to the DP than to other parties. Let us tell him today that for the DP, Ilir Meta is closer to the dirty bargains of the government. May Edi Rama have fun with him”, he said.

Basha answered to the invitation of Ilir Meta to sit together with President Nishani and other political factors, in order to find a solution to the crisis: “The invitation to the DP and to me has only one purpose. They want to make us part of this dirty bargain. We have told them “no”. We will keep telling them “no”.

Basha said that Democrats and Albanians have two choices: “join the old republic or continue their resistance, in order to guarantee free and fair elections.
