Wild animals appear again in forests after hunting ban

The three-year hunting moratorium has increased the number of animals
and birds, especially the ones that were about to get extinct.

The Administration of Protected Areas in Elbasan is monitoring wild life in the Shebenik National Park, and the results on forest cameras are amazing.

“There is an increased number of wild animals in the Shebenik National Park. A similar process was made in 2013, bringing a significant improvement”, said Ornela Poci from the Administration.

Although they have remarks against the moratorium, hunters don’t try to hide the positive result.

“There is development, but mostly with predators, such as wolves, bears and foxes. I cannot say that we have more hares today, because we have more foxes. But the number of boars has increased”, says Demir Leka from the Librazhd Hunters Association.

Brown bear, wildcats, wolves, boars, foxes and other animals are thriving in forests, while authorities are expected to realize a census of the wild life.
