Macedonia has finally a new Parliament Speaker, and for the first time in its history, he is Albanian

Talat Xhaferri was elected with the votes of the new majority, made of Zaev’s LSDM, Ali Ahmeti’s BDI and “Alliance for Albanians”.

The first one to congratulate him was the LSDM leader himself, Zoran Zaev.

The VMRO-DPMNE Parliament Members blocked the podium, but the new majority didn’t leave the Parliament. They asked current Speaker Trajko to start the voting procedure.

After the appointing, violent protesters chanting anti-Albanian slogans forced themselves into the Parliament, leaving security staff out of function and using violence against Zaev and even journalists.

Zaev was seen with a bloodied face, while MPs were secured in another area of the Parliament. A special press conference is expected later the day, together with foreign ambassadors.
