The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, said that tourism is confirmed as one of the strongest pillars of the economy.

The money produced by this sector pushed the government to start talks regarding four big investments, one of which at the Lalzi Bay, where the first 5-star resort is expected to be completed soon. The profits, according to Rama, will be very positive in a very short time.

“Tourism has produced 1.5 billion Euro in Albania, turning into a very strong pillar of the economy, compared to one year ago. The contribution in our economy increased with 200 million EUR. The project we discussed has been evaluated by the World Bank and IMF, and it plans creating 250.000 jobs for the next seven or eight years”, Rama said.

Albanian tourism had 25% more demand than supply last year. Rama says that investments such as the Lalzit Bay will affirm Albania as a significant competitor in the region.

“In the next three years, we will have three or four other work sites which will inject many revenues in the economy. We are looking forward to see another important investment of this group at the Dhermi area, where our ambition is the same, to build another 5-star resort. We are about to finalize other processes, from Divjaka to the Cape of Stillos”, Rama said.
