Baramash Church abandoned, now in serious danger

The post-byzantine “Shen Meria” Orthodox Church in Barmash, Erseka, has
never been restored since it was built in the XVII century.
The building has a unique architecture, and its walls hide murals painetd with the most advanced techniques of the respective century.
This church is one of the most endangered cult objects in Kolonja. Although there has been a project in place for the restoration, work has not started yet.
“Today we have only 35% of this object, because it has been abandoned. The restoration plans to turn it as it was, even with the murals”, said Gjergji Koki, Director of Culture Monuments.
