The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Euro-Asian
Affairs, Hoyt Brian Yee, made an appeal for the Kosovo-Montenegro border
demarcation issue to be concluded as soon as possible.
The US diplomacy has focused in Balkan recently, which has also received attention from the EU due to the increased Russian influence.
Yee had a phone conversation with Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and Parliament Speaker Kadri Veseli. Both officials agreed that the agreement for the border with Macedonia and Montenegro should be sent in Parliament next week by the government.
Veseli declared that the Kosovo institutions will have to take big decisions; otherwise their entire meaning is lost.
The Kosovo government had planned to take this decision in Parliament, but it was hard to secure two thirds of the vote.
Observers say that this may even take Kosovo to early elections, since the coalition was created exactly to continue with matters of key importance for the country.
