The Slovakian MP, Eduard Kukan, referring to the political situations
created in Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Kosovo, said that no one
in EU wants boycott.

“Parliamentary boycott is turning into some kind of sport in Balkan, but Parliament is the place for political debate”, said the European MP during a conference at the European Parliament, titled “Democracy crisis in Western Balkan”.

Kukan condemned the increasing nationalism in Balkan, which, he said, was being used by some politicians to attract voters.

“Shadows of the past are not useful. The enlargement process will be even more difficult in the years to come”, Kukan continued.

Part of this panel was the rapporteur for Albania, Knut Fleckenstein, who said that democracy in Balkan had been damaged. According to him, this would allow lawmakers to rule in autocratic ways.

Fleckenstein expressed his concern about the political situation in Macedonia. He appealed Gruevski to not block the creation of the new government.

Kukan and Fleckenstein are both EU mediators in many political crises that are troubling the region, such as the ones in Macedonia and Albania.
