In an interview for the British newspaper, “The Telegraph”, with
journalist Thomas Harding, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke about the
Russian danger in Balkan. Rama said that if the US withdraws its
attention, the region could drops under Russian influence.

Rama asks questions over whether the European Union is doing enough to ensure stability and block Moscow’s alleged plots, referring to Russia’s apparent role in the prime minister’s assassination plot in neighboring Montenegro, disclosed by The Telegraph this week.

Telegraph quotes Rama of saying that Balkan will not have peace and cooperation without US support.

“If the EU and USA withdraw, we would be going back to where we started it, and you know what it means for Balkan”, Rama said.

The Telegraph mentions the current hard efforts for reforming the corrupted judiciary system, which is a condition before starting EU accession negotiations.

“This has caused great concern for the current opposition. They have been in power for many years, and they have their reasons to fear a purge from an efficient judiciary system”, Rama said for the Telegraph.

According to the British newspaper, after three years in power, polls show the Albanian Prime Minister is still popular, receiving support from 56% of the people. The Albanian Police, according to Telegraph, has been transformed from the least trusted, to the most trusted profession in Albania.
