The leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Ilir Meta, said
that a good standard of the June 18th elections is vital for EU
integration.

“The June 18th elections are key for starting the EU accession negotiations and for starting the judiciary reform in a safe and legitimate terrain, regardless of the election results, even for the SMI”, Meta said.

He underlined that referring to the Venice Commission and finding consensus between parties is what should serve as basis for the reform.

“This reform will take its time, but for us there are three key words: the Constitution, the Law and Transparency”, Meta added.

Earlier the day, in a press release for the media, Ilri meta spoke about the meeting with Prime Minister Rama, saying it was a normal communication of the ruling coalition members.

“I want to underline the significance of continuing the judiciary reform in a constitutional, legal and transparent way. Secondly, the significance of dialogue, in order to guarantee high standards for elections”, Meta said, underlining that the opposition also has an important role for it.

“Dialogue with the opposition is key for the EU integration. The Parliament belongs to the opposition first, because the majority has the government too. The opposition has only the Parliament. They are welcome to push forward their requests for higher standards on June 18th”, Meta said.
