The Prosecution General reacted with a harsh response after the declaration issued by the US Ambassador to Tirana, Donald Lu.

Llalla said that his declaration was a threat made to the institution of Prosecution, and a completely non-diplomatic act.

The US Embassy has revoked visas for several Prosecutors, including Llalla’s, for which state leaders were informed.

“The Prosecution General tells Mr.Lu that if he is used to rule among Albanian politicians, he will not be able to do it with the Prosecution. He thinks he has the fate of our prosecution in his hands, by threatening  the institution with revoked visas and closed investigations. It must be clear to him and to anybody else, that Albanian Prosecutors don’t need visa to exert their duty”, said Fjorida Ballauri, Chief of Staff at the Prosecution General.

The Prosecution General said Ambassador Lu released that declaration after state leaders were informed about the constant threats and pressures coming from Ambassador Lu against them.
