War against informality which started in September 2015, has entered a new phase this year.

The new Director, Vasiliko Vjero, said in an interview for Top Channel that the Tax Computer System has chosen six branches of high risk for evasion, and that’s where they will focuse their inspections: retail and wholesale trade, tourism and accommodation, construction, free professions and agreiculture.

The new tax director says that the frequent inspections that used to be frustrating for businesses will now be made only based on system chosen by the computer risk system.

“We will reduce the visits of our inspectors. They don’t have to knock on every door, but only on businesses that appear as a risk”, Vjero said.

But this doesn’t mean war against informality will not continue. The Director said it will be spread in all levels of tax payers and the industry is waiting for the government to pass the law that zeroes 31.000 arrear fines.
