The US Embassy in Tirana denounced the Democratic Party leader, Lulzim
Basha, of breaking the Justice reform agreement.  The Embassy specifies
this recent development makes them come to conclusion that Basha’s was
an intentional effort to block the reform, since the draft fulfilled the
standards of the Venice Commission, the US and EU.

“The US Government”, the embassy announcement says, “appeals Albanian Parliament Members to vote this reform individually on July 21st.”

The Democratic Party had agreed with the draft proposed by EU Enlargement Commissioner, Johanes Hahn, but their negotiator. Oerd Bylkbashi, said later last night that the voting is impossible, since they don’t’ agree on how members of the other new institutions are appointed, including the Supreme Council of Courts and Supreme Council of Prosecutions.

The European Parliament Member, Knut Fleckenstein, one of the protagonists of this agreement, wrote on Twitter that he couldn’t believe there were still problems in Albania. “Now we have to wait and see for the voting. Sorry!”, Fleckenstein says.

The Minister of Justice, member of the Socialist Movement for Integration, supported the declaration of the Democratic Party negotiator, Oerd Bylykbashi, saying that the SP negotiator had agreed to make Nuland’s proposition valid for all institutions.
