Justice reform, Basha: “We offered solution. We have been rejected for 17 days”

The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, spoke for the media about the
justice reform. He said that the opposition has offered compromise to
the majority for this reform, but it has been rejected.

On June 24th, the opposition has sent to the majority a new compromise formula for the Justice Reform, for which they also give up from the reserved posts, a request that has been strongly supported by the opposition in the past days. According to him, Edi Rama wants the Justice Reform to fail.

The US Ambassador, Donald Lu, during these days has not stayed silent but has asked Parliament Members to vote individually the justice reform. But do the partners support the new formula of the opposition?

The new formula of the opposition foresees the establishing of an “ad-hoc” parliamentary commission with equal representation. This commission will chose through hidden votes the members of the “Vetting” commission. This is not valid for the international monitoring operation, which, according to the official draft, has decision-making powers.

On the other side, the majority has made another proposition. A formula with a transferable vote. Lulzim Basha says that the opposition has rejected this formula twice.

Right after the meeting of the Democratic Party group, Lulzim Basha said for the media that the opposition has offered compromise, but it has been rejected.

“We have offered the majority our compromise for the justice reform. For the past 17 days, the representatives of the majority refuse compromise and give no reasons why this solution is not acceptable”, Basha declared.

The Democratic Party leader said that Edi Rama is playing with double standards. “He is telling the international community that he is ready to approve any proposition, but on the other hand he gives no arguments why he rejects the opposition’s offer”, he said.

Basha said that the DP will soon publish the offer of the opposition: “Edi Rama doesn’t want the justice reform, but wants to blame the opposition. If he has a plan, he should go on early elections with this dead argument. But he is wrong. Rama hopes to blame the opposition on July 21st”, Basha declared.

As for the proposition made by Xhafaj, Basha said it is not something new and it has been rejected by the opposition on February 17th.
