Bank Association: “Big businesses hesitate to take risks and take loans”

Spiro Brumbulli, General Secretary of the Bank Association, says that
the loan stalemate is related to big businesses that are dormant,
without projects, while small and middle businesses are moving .

Bank of Albania said that loans in April were 1.6% lower than one year ago, and Brumbulli says that banks are open to give loans, but there is no demand. Individuals and businesses hesitate to undertake risks and realize new investments.

He says that this hesitation might be related to the fact that the economy is not growing with more than 2% or 3%, or maybe because it is hard for youth to find jobs. The government too sees the loan stalemate as one of the biggest risks for the consolidation of economy.
