Courts have suspended most of the trials against illegal arm possession
in public. The same decision was taken by the Supreme Court a few days
ago.
Sources said for Top Channel that the case was sent at the Constitutional Court for interpretation, since the repeal of the articles has caused an unclear situation for judges.
Some of the judges think that after the repeal, the article that gives the sentence does not exist anymore. Other judges say that until the Constitutional Court gives its opinion, the old dispositions can be used which gives sentences up to seven years in prison.
With this unclear situation, lawyers say that their clients’ rights have been infringed. The Head of Criminal Defense Lawyers Association said for Top Channel that the law of his clients are suspended, but they will not stay in prison until there is a law to sentence them.
