The Socialist Movement for Integration asked an official reaction of the
Albanian government for the recent IMF report on fiscal transparency.
Luan Rama, the General Secretary of the SMI, said that the co-ruling
party wants the government to take the IMF stances seriously, since
there have been crises each time they have been ignored.

“Each time the Albanian government has not considered the IMF stance seriously, we have had many crises and unpleasant situations of economic development. They should reflect with seriousness and read the report directly as it is written. Allow me to say that it should be read more carefully than the Venice recommendations. The government should create its first impact with the quality of life of Albanian citizens, the revenues of the Albanian families and by offering a service that makes it decent and gets it closer to the EU standards”, Rama declared.

Luan Rama said that the SMI offers the entire support and cooperation to the remarks made by the IMF. The financial risk is an alarm siren that requires responsible and tangible reflection.

The IMF report warns the Albanian government to be careful with concessions. Rama said that the public-private partnership is important for the economic development of our country, but private operators should not only profit, but also contribute with the economy.
