The Special Commission of Justice Reform decided to attach to the draft
that will be sent to the Venice Commission the remarks made by the
Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration.

The only point that divides the majority and the opposition for the justice reform is the role of politics in the justice system. The parties are expected to continue their discussions in order to leave this stalemate behind.

The opposition and the majority agree that the justice reform is vital for our country’s integration, and that the draft made by experts is a healthy base to work on.

The Head of the Commission, Fatmir Xhafaj, found three discussion issues in this process. The majority and the opposition share the same opinion. The third one is the one needing other talks, according to Xhafaj.

“The reform is basic for integration and for democracy. We agree that the product that we have is just a project with healthy foundation, on which we share many common points. But we differ in some separate issues, from the way how the Venice instructions were read. These are an important base for continuing a dialogue and wide consensus. Three issues are the base of this project. War against corruption in a system, its efficiency and the role of politics. The first two ones have been treated. As for the third issue, we can find common ground”, Xhafaj said.
