The Minister of Culture, Mirela Kumbaro, wished a merry Christmas from
the Saint Thanas church in Karavasta, where she visited the newly
restored premises.

The church was declared a culture monument since 1963 and restoration started on Easter, costing 170 million ALL.

The church will be an artistic itinerary for tourists and for shows offered to locals.

The church was built in 1778 and painted by brothers Joan and Gjergji Katro in 1797. In 1963 it was declared a culture monument by the communist government. This is the first restoration since its construction.
