YWCA, the World Young Women’s Christian Association, has been present in Albania for the past 10 years. They celebrate their anniversary under the motto “Breast Cancer Fight Continues”.

The world-renowned Albanian soprano, Ermonela Jaho, was invited by the Albanian Women Christian Association as an ambassador of this cause.

The purpose of this initiative that will continue until October, is to raise awareness among the Albanian society for the difficult challenges of women.

Health Minister Ogerta Manastirliu, said that women should make frequent visits for an early diagnose. “The good news is that a recent government decision made way for a medicament that is very expensive, but that we will cover with it all breast cancer cases within the first semester of this year”, she said.

The US Ambassador, Donald Lu, invited to the event, said: “We experienced breast cancer in our family and thank God we survived. We are happy to see the civil society raising funds and awareness for supporting free mammography and health education, in order to save the lives of women throughout Albania”, he said.

Donika Godaj, Director of YWCA Albania, said that thanks to Top Media’s generosity, they will have a TV ad for free with Ermonela Jaho’s message: Then we will continue with open forums in areas where we haven’t worked before,e such as Kruja, Berat, Kukes, Elbasan and Pogradec, where specialized doctors will inform women about the breast cancer. We are also preparing a documentary”, she said.
