Since August, when it was mentioned for the first time, the idea of exchanging borders between Kosovo and Serbia has caused endless reactions. Thaci prefers to call it a border correction, while Vucic sees it as a definition between Serbs and Albanians.
The lack of details has covered the proposition with a veil of mystery, pushing the involved actors to make assumptions.
Thaci keeps emphasizing what Kosovo would benefit from the agreement, but he avoids talking about what Kosovo would cede to Serbia.
Another question that is being raised right now is about who initiated this idea.
Political expert Ramush Tahiri said on Radio Free Europe that this idea has existed even before, it has been discussed in silence, and if Thaci made it public right now, it means that the Brussels process has faced a stalemate.
Another expert, Agon Maliqi, is convinced that the declarations of the Kosovo President on this matter have had more tactics than content.
It is difficult to be transparent with the opinion in such processes, but the least that the president could do was to involve a larger circle of politicians, not allowing the issue to get monopolized.
